Being a parent can at times be frustrating and stressful, as well as rewarding and joyful.
When we plant flowers and they do not grow and bloom as we would like, we don't blame them.
Yet, when we have problems with our children, we too often blame them - criticising and nagging.


We need to influence them and they will mature, but it does not mean we can change their nature. The challenge is to nourish them to become responsible an contributing members to the society.

How to be neither overly strict or overly permissive?

Let's start with communicating between parent and child with positive messages.
Remind yourself that you too, would like to receive positive comments rather than criticisms. People feel and do better when thy feel better. Don't allow your impulses direct you what to do.

Sentences starting with "Don't" should be avoided e.g. "Don't forget your homework." "Don't forget to eat your lunch" etc. Instead use messages like "Any homework from school today?" or even get a "To Do List" so that your child learn the habit of responsibility by completing his/her chores & homework before watching TV, playing PC games. This will help to avoid "nagging" situations.

Remember, STAY POSITIVE! (After all, we are the adults, aren't we?)

Meet-The-Parents Session (Secondary One)

A very warm welcome to the parents of PHS Secondary One cohort!

9 January was the MTP session for a very enthusiastic group of parents... all ready to journey with their child in PHS!

The Parent Support Group (PSG) is basically the support and resources of the school in the organisation of activities and events. From these activities and interactions, you will understand better the school culture and environment. PSG also provides a platform for parents to interact and network with one another, providing feedback for improvement.
Foster a parent-child bond through your involvement - BE A PART OF YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING JOURNEY - BE INVOLVED IN PSG!

We are not asking that each one of you be involved in ALL of our activities, we are hoping that you can be involved in a couple of activities per year, or even impart your skills through our workshops.

For Christian parents, I am appealing to you to join our current group of parents who are giving Tuesday morning devotions to the students. It is only a 15-minute devotion on Tuesday mornings (7.15am to 7.30am) but it will mean a lot to the students!

If you did not complete the PSG Enrolment form but would like to join us or at least, be informed of our activities, please email:

I hope you'll like what you are going to read ...

This is hilarious.....even an Englishman could not construct sentences using numeric, which is so uniquely "us" (Singaporeans). Pardon me, English teachers!

Ah Lim was asked to make a sentence using 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. Not only did he do it 1 to 10, he did it again from 10 back to 1.


This is what he came up with.....

1 day I go 2 climb a 3 outside a house to peep. But the couple saw me, so I panic and 4 down. The man rushed out and wanted to 5 with me. I ran until I fell 6 and threw up. So I go into 7-eleven and grabbed some 8 to throw at him. Then I took a 9 and try to stab at him. 10 God he run away.
10 I put the 9 back and pay for the 8 and left 7-eleven. Next day I called my boss and told him I was 6. He said 5, tomorrow also no need to come back 4 work. He also asked me to go climb a 3 and jump down! I don't understand. I am so nice 2 him but I don't know what he 1.
